  • I went today to see Palazzo Chigi at Ariccia with my 7 year old daughter. Wonderful the building! Great driving! Recommend a trip outside at all!

  • There are many unique, unparalleled and spectacular preciousness, that make this aristocratic residence "Baroque". It's really hard to describe it, even more so in short, for this I urge you to visit it. Dozens of wonderful rooms finely decorated and frescoed ceilings and walls. where you can admire paintings, drawings, sculptures, furniture, furnishings, fabrics, clothes, objects: everything intact, everything amazing, anything opulent. Among the uniqueness: of great interest rare leather wallpapers "sayings of Cordoba" that cover the entire 17th floor (20 screens); the pharmacy with her furniture and all the portraits of the Chigi from 1400 to the present; Preparatory models (Angels) by Cavalier d'arpino for the mosaics in the dome of St Peter's; the beautiful "sanguine", in a round, depicting Saint Joseph with the child, the only stonework by Bernini and the only autographed by him (in the Chapel). Hits, plus the refinement, the spontaneity of the gaze of Joseph (more accustomed us to see the tenderness in the gaze of our Lady). Particular Ariosto's room, with its allegories; the game room where two gorgeous tables designed by Bernini, symbolize, with allegories, the Union of the Chigi Della Rovere and aerial views of the monumental and giddy Ariccia bridge and the scenic Piazza della Corte. Visiting on the ground the 9 rooms of Cardinal Flavio Chigi and on the second floor, the halls that host the Baroque Museum with paintings of the greatest artists of Rome in 1600. The richness and beauty of its furnishings the Palace was the backdrop for many famous movies. It is the real jewel of the Castelli Romani. The ticket can be purchased for each environment: that Cardinal's rooms, the cumulative floor (with help) and the Baroque is 14 €. You can also visit the immense garden with guided tour (other ticket).

  • Great outing in Ariccia. I would like to point out especially to the Romans who come here just to eat the famous porchetta don't miss a visit to the Cardinal's rooms of Palazzo Chigi, really nice and with excellent guides. No less interesting and also unknown is the Locanda Martorelli located in Piazza della Corte. It is one of the Inns of the Grand Tour and here sojourned characters like Goethe, Gogol, Andersen, Keats, Corot etc. etc. The frescoed Hall is a real spectacle and Dr. Alberto Silvestri and Maria Cristina Vance will explain all myths depicted on walls by stepping back through centuries of our history. Not to be missed!
