  • We learned about these wonderful caves via TripAdvisor. The caves are really nice, the visit takes about an hour and is made along a path of about a km. Our guide, Orestes, was really exhaustive and also answered all the questions that were asked him, professional and above all kind. As soon as possible we will return hoping to visit the main hall which was closed due to the breeding period of the bats.

  • I was at the caves with a friend and we made the last visit of the day in 4. A kind, knowledgeable and helpful guide. Fascinating caves. Thank you!!

  • The caves of Pastena are probably less known than those of Frasassi or Castellana, they represent an equally special place for fans of these underground landscapes... In the case of Pastena, in addition to the different landscape with less flashy but equally interesting formations, one more reason to visit them is to ascribe to the Oreste guide that with his way of doing and his knowledge is able to transport you with irony and imagination ( without giving up professionalism) in the wonderful world of caves. The joy and passion in describing the various rock formations, combined with the imagination and love for this work will lead you on a journey different from the usual rich in notions and cheerfulness. Highly recommended

  • Beautiful caves and a lovely receptionist however the tour was completely in Italian and therefore we weren't able to know the story or history behind the caves - unfortunately no attempt either to communicate and help us understand. An audio tour guide or some form of translation would have benefitted greatly. No photos allowed either, nor could you go off and look on your own, so a lot of waiting for us!
  • Very interesting caves to see, millions of years old! Tour guide was great, friendly and very accommodating, he tried very hard to make sure we understood the tour. Lots of knowledge. Definitely worth doing if you're in the area, beautiful landscapes too.
  • I went here with locals and the cave was only visited by locals when I was there, but it is definately something to see if you get the chance. It's a natural cave and thus very old. The cave has two levels, one without and one with water through it, the tour, which you will have to follow, goes about 200m deep through both parts. The tour is in Italian only, but on request there is a one page paper that gives the descriptions of each room. With my little Italian I could follow the tour after reading this paper, but even without understanding the tour guide, I'm sure it's great to go here to have the experience to see all the different rooms, the bats and the stalactites, stalagmites and columns.
  • Avoid it if I were you. Not worth the time taken to visit. Much nicer places around.
  • Worth a trip if your passing by, though plan lunch and at the time I went no photography was allowed, though if your sneaky it may just be possible
