Il museo ha sede in un edificio storico del 192... more »For the tourist who arrives in Langhirano and knowing that this is the home of Parma ham, ham Museum is a must see. The Museum is housed in a historic building dating back to 1928, the former cattle market, then for cattle trading. The Museum allows you to know a little more about this Italian culinary excellence.

We made shopping at the Commissary and apart from the ham and salami to take home we took 4 rolls with a ham to 30 months: a marvel. Voting is always the sum of 2 (Museum) and 6 (PX), then the average of 4.

Attraverso foto, utensili, citazioni... more »The charming and industrious Langhirano, with its skyline characterized by high ham factories, houses in the old cattle market the interesting Museum of ham. Through photos, tools, quotes from references, pictures and clear explanations it traces the history of the production of ham, salt pork (very interesting info about using it in the history and the different types of salt including in nearby Salsomaggiore), the skill of the butchers at old recipes which enhance the meat of the pig. The video of the old butcher is beautiful! It comes up with the understanding that the production of prosciutto is an art and nature, with its microclimate, continues despite industrialization and globalization, to play its part. Not to be missed.
Hours don't reflect that it's notopen weekdays except by reservations in groups of 15 or more.
A nice afternoon out, it's very small, but the prices match the size so it's ok. Interesting to learn about the history of the ham.
Let me start by saying that we were unlucky, because it was faulty heating and being at the end of October the temperatures inside were bassine to enjoy the place, especially for lunch. The Museum is still well organized, has great parking, the staff was friendly and very professional. The footprint is very "educational", this is not uninteresting, and historical references. Anyway well done!
Nice Museum, interesting though not great. For those wishing to go Board the Card of food museums: museums are 6 in total (Parmesan cheese, tomato, Pasta, Salami, ham, wine) and with the card you enter for free ... with 3 views the Card pays for itself.
Very nice architecture, but the Museum is devoid of content, or rather the contents there would be but are not addressed.
