  • The Schnatterpeckaltar in Lana, a richly gilded and carved winged altar, dates from the period of late Gothic. Find it in the Church of the assumption in Niederlana. Despite the limited hours and the need to participate in a guide worth a visit in any case. With over 14 m in height and 7 m wide, the carved from chestnut wood and elaborately gilded Schnatterpeck altar in Lana is regarded as the largest winged altar of the entire Alpine region, one of the largest in Europe. This altarpiece was at the beginning of the 16th century by the sculptor Hans Schnatterpeck (born ca 1450 in Landsberg/Lech, from 1479 resident in Merano, from 1492 of respected citizens and workshop owners, ca 1510 there died there), and created his journeyman in eight years work. Paid was the altar from the former Lanaer population (approx. 800 inhabitants) lt tradition "with 1600 Rhenish Gulden, what about wine corresponded to the value of three farms and eight went" tour with a only, late March - late Monday at 15:00 October, Tuesday to Friday at 11:00 & 15:00, Saturday at 11:00, entrance fee adult Euro 3,00.

  • If you holiday in Lana or environment, you should let the Schnatterpeckaltar not to be missed. A very impressive altar in a small village church. Most impressive is the fact that 500 years ago, a community of only 800 inhabitants has funded such an altar and later him not just a Baroque altar has soft. There are only a few sightseeing times, which unfortunately are not coordinated with the neighboring churches, which is a bit of a shame, otherwise you could combine wonderfully with a walk on the Brandiswaalweg. But always recommended.
