  • Just arrived in Guardia Piemontese Cultural Centre guides spoke of the main entrance door whose name brings us back to the dark days of repression. The innocent blood of the Waldensians were killed on the spot, in the tragic night of 5 June 1561 the Castle poured into the streets, until you pass the main entrance door that since 1561 it was called the gate of blood. Consists mainly of pebbles of various sizes, fragments of roughly hewn stones and bricks bound with mortar of different thickness.

  • Linked to the history of persecution against the Waldensians, takes its name from the blood of the innocent Waldensians who were murdered at the Castle and whose blood came to pass through the door. But that's past history, today the village has great views on the Calabrian coast and, because of its altitude, a fresh air which is popular with tourists in the summer. Country Occitan in Calabrian Earth that has kept the language and traditions. For those who spend a period of leave in the area not to be missed.
