  • All absolutely affected by part of the architectural model, but it is certainly not used as it could be. Spaces, but a few shops and a few activities that could enter el alive a city that needs to be enlivened

  • Country place below the embankment of the Po. Characterized by large and charming Piazza Bentivoglio, square, three side porches and other closed by Palazzo Bentivoglio. The Palace houses the Museum documentary and Centro Studi Antonio Ligabue, "naïve painter who lived right in Gualtieri. Nearby, may have an interest in the hamlet of Santa Vittoria, with its recently restored Palazzo Greppi. Worth a visit if in the area; time required: about 1 hour.

  • ANTONIO LIGABUE, "THE FOOL" GUALTIERI-PALAZZO BENTIVOGLIO. by anna scorsone alessandri fifty years after his death, Antonio Ligabue "the fool", back to Walter, the country in which he lived emiliano for over forty years, with a major retrospective held in the spectacular Beauty of the giants of Bentivoglio Palace, recently restored. At a glance about 180 works masterpieces paintings, drawings, prints and sculptures in terracotta, share production of Lam in three bands and retrace the historical reasons. Animals, Swiss landscapes and Po, portraits and self-portraits of one of the most brilliant and original 20th century Italian artists are released by the label "naif" that too often accompanied his work. The curator explained Sandro Parmiggiani: "Ligabue's work ended up being partly obscured by the story of his life, absolutely brilliant in the tragedy and suffering. The reasons for the existential experience seemed inexorably prevalent than artistic. It is therefore proposed to make the reverse path: not from life, but from the opera to life. " The encounter with the painting was early and saving plan for Lambert, from 1920 onwards would be his traveling companion. Up to arouse the interest of other artists, critics and merchants, who go, they argued. Lambert gave rise to fierce and enchanted landscapes, flowers and fauna tortured by vivid colors, self portraits and scenes from fairy tale. In his palette, Ligabue added to initially adopted new colours yellow, blue and red magic, creating an amazing repertoire of colour combinations that characterize his production of the 50 's. One of the characteristic of his painting themes are animals, often fierce, but also friendly. Hundreds of stories, dug into the night of his life full of solitudes. They were so brilliant, so canvases was sad his Castaway. Antonio Ligabue madness, in which fragility exposed to exclusion: not having a place in the world, does not know the meaning of love, does not have a direction. His painting is made up of stories of plants, animals, farmers, a simple world stories, stories full of ancient beauty. In 1962 Raffaele Andreassi devoted a documentary, televised only in 1977. A precious testimony, in which paint is also performing a magical ritual before exposing yourself to the enchantment of the vision; where the sounds of the animals take the place of words. His painting so naïve and so fierce, never quite understood. The life of Antonio Ligabue: desperate, marked by frequent admissions to the mental hospital. He was born in Zurich in 1899 by an unknown father. The mother, in nine months, leaves it to a poor family in Switzerland, which will always have difficult relations. Meanwhile, Sabrina marries Bonfiglio Laccabue, originating in Gualtieri, which legitimates the name Antonio and makes Italian citizen, but does not accept it in the family. Years after the artist will take the satisfaction of changing the surname Lam. Expelled from Switzerland, comes to Walter in 1919, alone, without family or friends, without money and without speaking Italian. The painting will be the only medicine in its troubled existence. Will have to wait to have a postwar artistic consecration. He died on 27 May 1965, and buried in the cemetery of Gualtieri – on his tombstone is placed the death mask made by Andrea Mozzali says "To Matt (the fool). Anna scorsone alessandri
