  • Lovely place. To our surprise it was not crowded at all and our guide was very polite and Nice. The guided tour is cheap, €5 if I remember correctly. The place is of historical and cultural impact and the view from the castle is great. I recommend everyone to visit it!

  • After going through a series of villages, one more characteristic of the other, we arrive in Gressoney, parked and we go in search of the Castle. But where is it? Is not seen, and yet the village is small ... here it is here it is tick off his toes by a Grove ... we follow the road ahead appears this little gem. Margherita di Savoia had frowned upon. Inside kept up very well, a lot of origonale furniture and the guide who explained it all very exhaustive.

  • We stayed there twice, the first we got a guided tour. All very well preserved, fantastic view from the reading room of Queen Margaret. Combines nature, art and history. One of the most beautiful castles of the Valle d'Aosta. The second time unfortunately we arrived too late, the castle was already closed. We will definitely stay here again.

  • Very nice tiny Castle in the middle of the wood with a beautiful view of Monte Rosa. The visit is very interesting.
  • The views are incredible from inside the Castel Savoia. It's a nice walk through the property.
  • very nice place and visit also for children
  • A really nice palace from the late 1800s, the style is quite eclectic and the interiors are in almost perfect condition. Definitely recommended.
  • Following some term holiday after starting in 1887 by Queen Margaret and the consort of Umberto I at the residence of Baron Beck Peccoz, the Queen wished to build a residence for himself on the side of the valley below the Col Ranzola , which offers a wide view of the Valley and the peaks of Mount Rosa. After some resistance by Umberto I, who preferred to stay in the castle of Sarre for long hunting trips, Queen Margrethe obtained permission to build his home resort that made design to the architect Emilio Stramucci, already adoperatosi for the remodelling of the Royal Palace and other Savoy residences. The laying of the foundation stone took place in the summer of 1899 but King Umberto I in the Castle lived here ever since he was assassinated in Monza in 1900 by the anarchist Gaetano Bresci, prior to completion of construction in 1904. Queen Margherita, widow and now relegated to the sole function of the Queen Mother, he spent long periods of vacation until 1925, hosting distinguished members of the literature that he loved to surround himself, including the poet Giosué Carducci and the fond nephew, young Prince of Piedmont Umberto II. After the death of Queen Margaret died in Bordighera in 1926, during his winter stay at Villa Margherita, the Castle remained closed for a few years and was sold in 1936 to milanese industrialist Hector Moretti who kept almost intact. His heirs sold the castle to the autonomous region of Valle d'Aosta in 1981.
