  • I totally did not expect that in southern Italy, which is now considered poor in comparison with the North could be so beautiful and luxurious Church! Mixing Gothic and Baroque, as Temple completed in different epochs, beautiful interior decor. The Church's location next to the ravine gives a feeling of solitude, the path to God, and a magnificent structure of the temple enters in a State of AWE. Leaving the Church, you can make beautiful pictures to the Gorge and the old quarters of Gravina.

  • I was so impressed with inlaid marble altars and the Hawk on the lectern. Though it was very dark.

  • This Cathedral is well worth a visit. The original is from the 11th century. Was destroyed by an earthquake and rebuilt in the 15th century. So was enriched in the Baroque period (17th century). Currently there are several elements in this cathedral dating back to its different construction and renovations. In particular stand out baroque altars of the two aisles, very rich in color, and the closure of the main altar made with marble columns, always from the Baroque period. If you can visit, is worth a look even the sacristy, full of paintings and ornaments. There is also a beautiful cross-shaped reliquary of Saint Sham that is worth seeing. It seems that the present sacristy in Norman times was the Hall where they gathered the Knights Castle (formerly the sacresita belonged to this other building). Pity that the basement of the cathedral were not visible at the time of our visit: who we were before we suggested us to see them. FYI: for those interested in this Cathedral there is also the Holy door for the Jubilee.
