  • On Sunday afternoon I go to visit in this artwork outdoors, well aware of having seen online already several photos, and the importance of this work much more conceptual than anything else, and because it was conceived in this way, knowing the story. To my surprise I find, first of all a very winding road which runs from the cretto Gibellina nuova, but I find even the most absolute abandonment and desolation of this immense work. No sign of cure, all dirty and forlorn, not a plaque and nothing else. Very disappointed I thought, but why we never seem to value the things we have, sure it was Northern Europe would be half of tourists and well taken care of, as always we lose throughout

  • Isolated and desolate place. Once stood the town of Gibellina, now remains this crack, which ideally retraces the old houses and streets. Artwork massive so, where you can enter, walk around, and touch the debris of concrete painted white. All around there are still remnants of the destruction, rubble, semicrollate houses. Landscape almost sinister, and therefore recommend a visit by daylight.

  • A work that hits since can be seen from the car window, between a curve and a hill. The part grey cement does not emerge from the landscape, violently, as it should, and how he manages to play the part again whitewashed. Walking through these walls, in the silence surrounding this tragedy, anguish envelops you and you get suddenly a melancholy meditation.

  • Beautiful land artwork in the middle of Sicily
  • Remarkable site.
  • Far be it from me to evaluate the work of Burri, I don't have the skills. Place to be seen, to be lived. Of strong visual and emotional impact. The road is rough and hard to find. A suggested by google maps is impractical, since a cave-in. We appeal to the help of a friendly trucker. Even signs, information boards, not even a table with the name of the work and the artist. ABSOLUTE NOTHINGNESS, that probably strengthens involuntarily the impact of the work. From Sicily, I always have that feeling of "might be gorgeous, shame. Don't we deserve nothing. "

  • Leaving aside the artistic value and disquisioni related to using a similar amount of cement, the place is definitely impressive and definitely leaves a unique feeling to those who pass through its locks.

  • Abandoned. You may park among the brushwood or along the way. No disclosures, even the most mundane. But the emotional impact is overwhelming. This poured concrete that covers the whole city like a shroud, draws a lunar landscape. A vibrant monument of death.
