  • My three stars are for the preservation and maintenance of the wild park of villa Duchessa di Galliera. Unfortunately, as often happens when a private property goes to public management goes inevitably towards the decline. I started attending the Park about 20 years ago (working in Voltri) and I know him by heart. It is an oasis of peace at 2 steps from the village and if kept in order could be really beautiful because it is rich in species of trees, trails very various, architectural works of merit. But unfortunately it is all in increasingly precarious conditions and although there is an voluntary association that does so much for trying to condition the trails and various eclectic classical nineteenth-century composing the noble Park pavilions, well it still lacks a lot, especially by the public. I think visiting this park is necessary both to understand its beauty, both to make it more alive and maybe in the future x try to bring it back to its former glory.

  • Intertwine with each breath, along the trails of the Park, full of vegetation, from large clearings and tall firs. Is divided between asphalt paths adorned with shrubs and other routes into the heart of the small wood. Walks to hand, curious children, jogging in the great outdoors, the raids of dogs unleashed: la Villa returns to everyone that corner of calm and authenticity lacking in the frenzy of our daily, may to picnic on sunny days, lends itself to spiritual and meditation seminars, offers cultural enrichment and promotes environmental awareness with its little treasures. Discover step by step, through caves and overcoming artificial waterfalls until you get to the large fenced meadows where deer and Tibetan goats are always ready to be take from the hands of smiling children. Not only an Italian garden, is anything but architecturally and engineering, but a temple of nature so that holds valuable resources of a diverse heritage. Advice? Take an afternoon off, a bottle of water and turn off the phone. And if you have a dog ... you'll be thankful to each other of this magical experience. Also word "porch monkey".

  • Beautiful Sunday excursion in the Park of the ancient villa, symbol of the Genoese quarter of Voltri. Perfect place to rest your mind, make a picnic in picnic areas, observe the panorama opens on the ward and on sea-shame about the proximity of the indispensable, but noisy and unsightly Highway viaduct-reading, conversation or sporting activities. The trails, especially the main path, are available to everyone and run within a forest that would deserve a more thorough maintenance: remove the Brambles, pruning trees, rebuilding of collapsed walls, better care of shrubs and tourist signs with botanical information and directions on the tracks. On 26 February were undergoing some (planting and renewal of green) to the Italian gardens, waterfalls and streams of the belvedere Palace. The Park, just a few minutes walk from the train station, is open to dogs and houses some fences with Tibetan goats and deer as well as a large colony of cats. I have some doubts about accessibility for disabled persons with walking problems: maybe they can go to the lower part of the Park, which during my visit was closed, but certainly not to the trails within the forest. Access to the Park is free, the visit to the gardens costs five euros, three with the reduced rate.

  • In addition to the Park, is very nice and interesting to the Palace of the Villa (which holds up very well comparing to other palaces fit for a Prince) and the adjoining small theatre of the 18th century, one of the oldest in Liguria.

  • Pity that the villa is closed but the 32 acres of landscaped grounds with deer and the Sanctuary are very striking.
