Trip Planner:   Europe  /  Italy  /  Liguria  /  Italian Riviera  /  Genoa  /  Via Garibaldi
In the historic heart of Genoa, Via Garibaldi is one of the more ornate and grandiose streets in all of Italy, complete with stonework and vivid colors. Sixteenth- through 18th-century palaces with hidden courtyards and gardens line the 250 m (820 ft) long road. While some of these palazzos are private property, you can visit the ones with museums, galleries, and civil organizations. Antique shops and gift stores also dot the street. • Arriving in Genoa just need to walk on the main and front Street-via Garibaldi. In every city in the world where there is such in the pedestrian zone of the most luxurious mansions of the nobles. The architecture of these buildings has been preserved almost unchanged since 16 century. In our contemporary world in these palaces placed banks, museums, various educational and cultural institutions. However, you can see frescoes on facades, stucco work and the coats of arms of noble families. Be sure to stop in the internal courtyards. There reigns the atmosphere of luxury, peace and quiet. Recommend.

  • Amazing Medieval street. Many buildings with wall painting. You feel you are in middle of history
  • The richest street in Genova. Home of the nobiliar palaces that could be visited in the Rolli days. Absolutely to see. Try to visit also the closest streets like via della Maddalena with the famous second hand shops. Get lost in the streets.
  • This is an open Air barroque museum. The buildings arctecture and paintings are amazing to look at. All palaces alongside the Street makes it the place for history and arctecture lovers.
  • This is one of the most amazing and remarkable Rinascimento street in Italy. In Via Garibaldi, called in the past Strada Nuova, precious palaces are based. This is a straight street where every palace is contiguous to other ones and this permits to travel in a fantastic place. Step by step you will see the face of evey building very elaborated, every step is a sightseeing in the splendid Italian Rinascimento. I am definitely sure that it is the first street each tourist should see. You can visit inside a lot of palace great masterpieces.
