  • The Church is in the Centre of Genoa, near via Garibaldi and via Balbi, an early Romanesque building with the name of St. Martha erected by Humiliated that abandoned it at the beginning of ' 500. In 1506 the Friars Minor Conventual took possession of this first church, having to leave their in Castelletto. In 1520 the Franciscans began the new church dedicated to Saint Francis, which incorporates the previous, but shortly after they left because they could go back to the old church of Castelletto. In 1567 in their place in the new building they settled the Friars and dedicated to the Annunciation. The Church was enhanced and covered with marble and stone walls and was the object of attention of Genoese families like the Lomellini. To underline the central nave and frescoes, the dome and to the left and to the right the various chapels: St Clement, St Clare of Assisi, our Lady of mercy and numerous others in the left aisle; and the chapel of Santa Maria di Loreto, s. Domenico Soriano, Saint Anthony of Padua and many other in the right aisle. Showy, Baroque church, genovese, characterized by columns made of white Carrara marble and red of France. Very nice to see and analyze it carefully.

  • The Basilica is in a passage way and once you enter, you will be surprised by its beauty. I preferred the duomo di San Lorenzo. Recommended!

  • Another wonderful church....much more beautiful inside than outside. Situated about 500 meters far from the hugely famous "via garibaldi".
  • This is a very nice church, with lots of nice paintings inside.
  • A 500 year old church in Genoa. The interior decoration is quite amazing
  • Definitely top three among the 29 churches I've seen across Europe. Beautiful columns, stone, and wood carvings, with wonderful gilding and paintings on the ceiling. The restoration is a work in progress; you won't notice at first, but the organ and several sections of ceiling are missing.
  • Really beautiful. Agree with previous comment. Quite sanctuary from outside street.
