  • Who goes to Genoa cannot but go to via Lomellini to visit the House of Giuseppe Mazzini, now renamed the Museum of the Risorgimento. The visit helps to know the great revolutionary Republican and understand the complexity of the three seasons of war that led to independence and the unification of Italy. Via Lomellini is in the old town, but the way easier to reach it on foot is to start from the porta Principe railway station, then walk east to the via Balbi, cross always East piazza dell'annunziata and, at the end of the square, keeping to the right, which is on the South side, turn on the second street on the right i.e. via Lomellini. Half of that, going southbound, you will find the entrance of the Museum on the left. Good visit!

  • Wandering through the narrow streets of the old town, we found ourselves the Museum, another piece of our history, with a lot of material to read up and see. I recommend it

  • Is based in the birthplace of Giuseppe Mazzini, via Lomellini 11. The Risorgimento Museum preserves and exhibits a rich historical and artistic heritage (documents, paintings, prints, weapons, uniforms, photographs, memorabilia), through which revived the iconic figures of the Risorgimento: Mazzini and Garibaldi's Republican and democratic movement, and the red shirts, Goffredo Mameli and anthem of Italy. The exhibition retraces the historical events that led to the unification of Italy, the revolt of 1746 against the Austrians until the Genoese unveiling of the monument to the thousand of fourth in 1915.
