  • Some friends wanted to see the House of Columbus with the neighbouring cloister of Saint Andrew. I had strongly discouraged the last visit that I had made had me largely disappointed, the House was locked and the cloister used to carry dogs was not very pleasant. The first surprise was the House, open and clean upstairs there is an audiovisual that provides a lot of useful information. The Guide, a very friendly and helpful, giving us more information. Christopher Columbus had not been born in that House, but had moved into this House at an early age. Domenico Colombo, father of the great Genoese Navigator, he moved with his family in vico Dritto bridge in 1455. Redundant of guardian of the gates, Dominic worked at the lab as a Weaver and as a cheese and wine merchant who was selling primarily to the convent of the Sisters of Saint Andrew. The dual work did not improve, however, the family condition. The debts accumulated enormously. Meanwhile Christopher who had previously helped his father in the workshop, released from adolescence, had already embarked on a career as a sailor who'd consigned to history as one of the greatest navigators of all time. Next to the Columbus House stands the 12th-century cloister of Saint Andrew.

  • A remnant of little house just outside Porta Soprana, amongst a whole new piazzalone which seems to Piazza della Radio. Three small one inside the other, a couple of Carnival costumes and a movie that says little or nothing. Aside from the idea that perhaps there lived Colombo, there are reasons for the visit.

  • Selling a home that's probably for Columbus House, when there are no real evidence is a sad ploy to steal from 3 to 5 euros to tourists. Which almost always come away by fraud.

  • Worth a visit, 5 euro for visiting his small house down the alley, nice route though.
  • Honestly, not much to see. Just stop by, that a photo and keep on walking
  • The remains of the house of Cristoforo Colombo. Not a lot to see but access is freeso worthy to have a look.
  • Cute.
  • The tradition says that this was Columbus' house.
