  • After years passed before, yesterday we decided to go ... very close to via del Campo, this church is being built prior to the 12 Apostles, then used as a resting place for the Bishop. It was the first cathedral of the Diocese of Genoa, transferred later in the 10th century in San Lorenzo ... Colorful Interior, gorgeous, high ceilings and rich in paintings, it remains one of the most beautiful churches in Genoa. A must see!!

  • The Church of San Siro was rebuilt in 1580 at the place where the ancient basilica dedicated to the Holy Apostles. It's an explosion of Baroque genovese, very nice inside, full of decorations and frescoes, close between all three of the nave built by Giovanni Battista Carlone and representing scenes from the life of St. Peter. Don't let the exterior fool you: well worth a visit!

  • Under the name "Apostolorum" appears to have been the first cathedral of Genoa, even in the 4th century, in the 5th century Syriac Bishop diocese holder drove the "basilisk" pet that deadly breath tainted the air from a well near the Cathedral (episode commemorated by a plaque in the clearing where perhaps 14th century walled Via San Luca, Via di Fossatello and Via San Siro) in reality the basilisk symbolizes the Arian heresy that you were inserting among the Christian Genoese. The ownership of the Cathedral passes so at San Siro. As San SIro was "out" of the walls in the meantime the bishopric moved to San lorenzo. 1,006-7 year with the arrival of the Benedictines was rebuilt in Romanesque style (the image is painted inside the apse of high major), in 1575 it passed under the Theatines, who collapses in the tree chopped down the Romanesque church and rebuilt the Church in Baroque style. Remarkable are the marble inlays, the high altar was designed and built by Pierre Puget in 1669 and was copied by other sculptors prototype. Frescoes by Carlone, paintings by Bernardo Castello, Pomarancio (beautiful Nativity) and a charming "Annunciation" by Orazio Gentileschi (half-brother of Lomi), imposing statues inside the Church and façade (redesigned by Ba early 1800), Unfortunately the Romanesque church seems to have saved the only font, Romanesque Bell Tower was demolished in 1904 after the fall of the Bell Tower of San Marco in Venice This was rebuilt, not this. It seems that there is a cloister on the Church, where there are the remains of a public bath built in 1905 and used until 1930 ca but unfortunately you can not visit

  • Interesting designs
  • good place
  • Probably the first cathedral of Genoa, when it was the Basilica of the Holy Apostles, dedicated to one of the first legendary bishops of Genoa. Rebuilt between the 16th and 17th centuries, boasts many artworks, from the Annunciation by Orazio Gentileschi to the beautiful high altar of Pierre Puget,
