Chiesa del Gesu e dei Santi Ambrogio e Andrea, Genoa
(4.7/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web)
Dating back to the sixth century, Chiesa del Gesu e dei Santi Ambrogio e Andrea is one of the oldest remaining churches in the area, with one very striking feature: its ceiling. Look up to see this masterwork completely coated in bright paintings and gilded in gold. If you manage to visit during sunset, the Baroque-style interior seems to glow under the sunlight. While much of the interior is original, the outside was completely reconstructed in 1894. • A must-see stop, as you stroll through downtown Genoa. Breathtaking artwork everywhere, including 2 paintings by Peter Paul Reubens.
  • To visit without hesitation. Artworks, well presented and well preserved. The central nave is lit until the presbytery with a glimpse of great morning. The entrance to the sacristy in the aisle is a slight transposition in other time.

  • Definitely worth a visit although it does not look like much from the outside. Different from the St Lawrence Cathedral which is spectacular outside but inside not much to see.

  • An impressive church beside Piazza del Ferrari. Beautiful interiors
  • It's a small church located near piazza dei Ferrari, of Baroque style and decorated up to the limit to not find not only corner without marble or gold. Impressive.
