See the sacred bowl that's rumored to be the chalice Christ used in the last supper at Cattedrale di San Lorenzo - Duomo di Genova. Most of this grand, historic cathedral was built in the 14th and 15th centuries, but a church has been on this site since the fifth or sixth century. Gaze up at the ceiling frescoes, admire the statues of St. John the Baptist and the Virgin Mary, and discover other religious artworks. Visit the Museum of the Treasury under the cathedral to see the vast collection of jewelry and silverware from 9 CE to the present. • Jaw-dropping. In the Centre of the beautiful city, an example of great architecture well placed in the city.

  • On a trip to GENOA, we could visit this magnificent cathedral, among other things there was the Bishop ... immense ... but the inside seemed quite dark, not too light.. Majestic masterpiece ... worth the visit

  • Beautiful Gothic Cathedral in Genoa. Don't tralasciatela if you pass from Genoa. Beautiful architecture, beautiful paintings and the museo del tesoro del Santo. In the 16th century the whole final part of the Cathedral, consisting of the transept, the choir is flanked by two chapels and the cupola on the cruise; It was redesigned by Galeazzo Alessi. The sumptuous Baroque decoration in marble, stucco and gilding was done in the 17th century. The frescoes on the vaults of the chapel left, with the assumption of the Virgin, are by Luca Cambiaso, while those of the presbytery are by 1622 by Lazzaro Tavarone, who painted the judgement.

  • Beautiful. One of my favorite churches so far. So unique with the black and white marble throughout. We enjoyed sitting on the steps outside to enjoy our gelato after exploring the church - there was a local band playing traditional Italian music and we were swept away! Also really close to many other tourism attractions. I highly recommend!!
  • Wonderful church. Cathedral. Built around 1200. Very very interesting. Here there is a very beautiful treasure. Located perfectly between the touristical port and the historical centre of the town.
  • It reminds me of Notre Dame cathedral in Paris but with only one tower. The interior is similar to Notre Dame. Spend some time on the cathedral stairs.
  • An old and amazing church, with two lions staying outside, maybe protecting the church!
  • The outside is grand, unique, and lovely. However the inside was blocked off when we went, all we got to see was the view from the back door. It looked pretty but I wish we could have gone further inside...:-(
