  • We walked in Galatina through the door light, the western entrance of the historic centre, reconstructed in 1795 that contains the emblem of the city and whose name is due to the nearby church and shrine of our Lady of light. The historic centre is well maintained with beautiful views, with Baroque palaces, churches and small and picturesque streets: very characteristic are the balconies filled with flowers and very obliging all the people we met, extremely available to give us all the information that we recalled.

  • The historic centre of Galatina is not great and apart from the Basilica Orsiniana that alone deserves the trip and the mother church extraordinary Baroque façade, has no major points of interest. However it is very pleasant to walk through the narrow streets lined by elegant Baroque palaces, with huge courtyards inside. The only drawback: the machines that ruin the atmosphere. Still worth a visit.

  • definitely not to be missed and visit during the hours allowed (ask first) is the marvelous Basilica of Saint Catherine, whose frescoes envelop the visitor's body and soul ... so many other curiosities, alleys, buildings, bakeries, shops and art galleries. Surely you appreciate more if you can be driven to a location with the various guides available in the town.
