Castello di Brolio, Gaiole in Chianti

(4.2/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
Tour the vineyards, grounds, and castle at Castello di Brolio. The castle passed into the hands of the Ricasoli family in 1141, and still shows damage from bullets and cannonballs. Admire the surrounding rolling hills and 230 hectares (568 acres) of vineyards from the ramparts of the castle. Sample the family vineyard’s own Chianti wine--the formula for Chianti was invented here in 1872--over a three-course meal in the terrace restaurant. • We met by chance at the Castle. When we went it was closed, but we turned around and we could appreciate the walk to get there surrounded by greenery. The silence that surrounds it is deafening and very impressive.

  • Try the excellent wines in the beautiful wine bar and eat in the Osteria! There food is very delicious - thanks to the chef Silvia Zanato - and the service exceptionally well! ,,

  • The castle is well worth a visit, even if you can see only the outside with the gardens and Chapel. The rest of the castle is used as a residence of the Ricasoli family. The landscape that can be seen are wonderful appears to lie in a painting. All very nice and clean. The ticket price of 5 euros in addition to the castle includes a tasting of three wines. Unfortunately the winery tour must be booked well in advance. The wines, the girl presents them very well. Definitely go back after booking the winery tour!
