Rocca Sanvitale, Fontanellato
(4.5/5 based on 650+ reviews on the web)
Begun in the 13th century and mostly completed by the 15th, Rocca Sanvitale was home of the descendants of the Count of Sanvitale until the 1930s. Now a museum, it also houses an optical chamber that uses mirrors and prisms to project a view of the town onto a wall. Traverse the moat to enter the fortress, which is furnished with furniture and paintings that span the 16th to 18th centuries. The castle-like building also houses a great masterpiece of the Italian Mannerist artist Parmigianino, a room painted with a depiction of the myth of Diana and Actaeon. • The rocca Sanvitale, Fontanellato, also known as Castle is a medieval castle surrounded by a moat filled with water, which is located in piazza Matteotti 1 in Fontanellato, near Parma; inside there is the room of Diana and Actaeon, known for its Mannerist frescoes by Parmigianino. Not to be missed, drugs.

  • Disappointed by the closure of the castle of San Secondo (PR) we retrieved with that of San Vitale. Beautiful, well maintained, directly from the middle ages with great rooms include the room of Diana and Actaeon with frescoes by Parmigianino, la loggia, its inner courtyard. All expertly described by a guided tour of an hour which I must say is Sprint. Rocca to put in a "loop" or worth a detour.

  • Nice fortified building in the middle of the square. Inside, there's three only camera obscura in Italy, a hole in the wall in a room will project the square image upside down on the opposite wall
  • Bellissimo castello con fossato
  • Posto bellissimo
  • Is one of 24 castles of the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza. Better make the visit "long": you visit several rooms that are well preserved and worthy to be seen. The room of Diana and Actaeon with frescoes by Parmigianino. Worth a diversion.

  • One of the most beautiful castles of the province of Parma and the moat still filled with water I would say that maybe it's a Pearl in Italy, it's worth to take a guided tour inside (the darkroom is awesome) ... also always makes the backdrop in the year for a lot of events.
