Canyon Rio Sass, Fondo

Canyon Rio Sass contains a nature trail measuring 1,200 m (.75 mi). A veritable chasm composes the first three quarters of the trail. You can follow the path of the water in the bottom of the canyon using a series of bridges and iron ladders anchored to the rocks. You will see stalactites, stalagmites, and fossils of various kinds, as well as a lake at the end. Consider arranging a guided tour. • Canyon very nice especially if you keep in mind that we are in Italy and in full country! Visits must be booked, avoid the rainy days because the path may be slippery and the brightness of the environment is significantly reduced in bad weather. Also if you have kids keep in mind that there are 600 steps to climb on the outward journey and return with 600 points where there are certain bottlenecks (especially for those with children in backpacks to shoulder), but there are walkways (metal) with ropes and handrails to facilitate tourists and make your path among the most challenging. Very knowledgeable guide and courteous, capes (optional and not required in August) and helmets (required) available for both adults and children and included in the ticket.

  • I've been several times, and each time the Canyon Rio Sass is like it was before: it is surprising. I think it's an outing to be proposed for nature lovers but also for families with children, explaining in advance that it does a very unique, unexpected path and in which water and rock are the protagonists. The route runs in two "stages", the first 500 meters and second long roughly 200 (I'm going from memory, I may not be very accurate). You walk on boardwalks very safe, with a helmet on his head and colder periods with a raincoat. Also popular in the summer to visit the Canyon I recommend bringing a kway to avoid getting wet too. Round trip are on the same path, so if the way be prepared to climb down, instead, to exit the Canyon but do not panic: the enterprise seems tired and tiring but really it's all very doable. One caveat: those who suffer from Vertigo or claustrophobia is not recommended. The path is fixed paths (there are no passages suspended type Tibetan bridge) but are placed at a great distance from the bottom of the Canyon. Some passages are very tight, and as the Canyon is a "gap" between high rocks (not indoors) some parts of the trail may be stifling for sufferers of panic attacks. Visits must be booked in advance by phone.

  • When you're in the middle of a country you don't expect to find a canyon, this was a wonderful surprise, in a few steps you are in a deep throat with a vegetation almost Equatorial; After a leisurely stroll down to the closing of the throat, climbed the dam there is another gem: the Emerald Lake! Visit highly recommended even with children.
