  • After several years I found myself spend a few hours of visit in the Centre of Foligno and then as now I found unfortunately closed the Church of Santa Maria Infraportas, the problem of the closure of the churches in the lunch break widespread not only in this city; There will be a third time? I don't know, but you never know ...

  • This church is located slightly outside the town of Foligno but doesn't make it any less interesting. Very particularly the Romanesque structure (1,100). Dedicated to Saint Mary, Peter and Paul

  • It was a small parish in early 1100, built on a 400-year-old chapel dedicated to Saint Peter, Saint Paul and Maria Assunta. The chapel was incorporated within the left aisle. Small, inspired by the recollection. Beautiful frescoes that remained visible. It had to be beautiful when it was painted. The pink and white stone and the entrance is preceded by a portico with three arches supported by four columns with Romanesque capitals. The floor of the porch and that of the Church are lower than at street level. The rectangular plan is divided into three naves by columns with the nave, higher. All-seeing, one by one, the frescoes and are between the 1300 and 1600. The wooden statue of the Madonna is oldest Romanesque, dating from around 1100. The name derives from the fact that originally stood outside the walls of Defense, but when a second wall was built was in the midst of them, and then took the name of "infra portas".
