  • Finding myself in Foligno for a few days I could not visit the Cathedral San Feliciano because closed. No alert unfortunately appears in the doorway of the Church and this fact leaves much perplexed tourists. Can anyone take the trouble to put up a sign that says "closed". Maybe it costs too much. Who should provide that? I hope that those responsible will get a move on and, if there is no danger, then cordoned off the area and do not let the tourists are stationed sitting on the steps of the Church.

  • The Cathedral was built in the 12th century, the same place where Are Feliciano would have been buried, as documented in the main façade. In 1201 was expanded with the construction of a secondary façade and, during the 16th and 17th centuries was the subject of several restorations and additions. The elegant dome is from the 16th century, and was built by Giuliano di Baccio of Agnolo. The interior has a single nave, and clearly the renovation work carried out in the 19th century in neoclassical style. There is a copy of the famous St. Peter's Baldachin (original made by Bernini). The chapel of the sacrament was built by Antonio da Sangallo the younger (1527), and decorated with frescoes by Vespasiano Strada and Baldassare Croce. In the sacristy there are busts of Bartolomeo and Diana Roscoli, which are attributed to Bernini. Under the church there is an old tomb of Roman origin.
