  • Located opposite the monumental shrine of Redipuglia, the Hill of Sant'Elia turns out for a wee gem. At the top of the Hill towering flag and monument, but much more interesting sculptures that pop up on the sides of the staircase, the square, and then left through the woods that lead back to the road. Each of these statues, besides celebrating each military corps (marine, aviation, etc.) presents a particular aspect of the life of a soldier: by barbed wire to the Red Cross, by a mere field bin. Entries under each of the monuments are in rhyme, and sometimes make it ideal in expressing a rhetorical tenderness, yet are living witness of life when thousands of soldiers were thrown.

  • Remember clearly the many stories read in Korean youth of the battles of the karst. Names of places and heroes carved in stone, tough as nails of enemy guns. In these places of borders has written the history of the 20th century and rivers of blood have ploughed through the scree slopes of the heights that start right after this montuncolo. The poetic verses of d'Annunzio accompany in the ascent of this staircase flanked by plaques and bronze sculptures that resemble the primitive cemetery of the Unvanquished. Suggestion magnificent transported by the scents of the karst.

  • It was the first home of the shrine before the building of the far more impressive monument that stands just across the Hill. Instead of crosses there are relics and war relics which represent a distinctive unusual. The visit may be preparatory to the shrine.
