  • we passed thru several times a day to get into town we found a nice coffee bar just inside that we had breakfast at each morning an interesting and important entry to a most beautiful city!
  • Porta Romana is the South Gate of the walls of Florence. Mail on the road to Siena and Rome, hence the name, converge from the center via Romana and via de ' Serragli Piazza della Calza, making it still a major point of access to the city centre.

  • Roman gate is part of the history of Florence, the period when Italy was not a unified State. Ancient gates were part of the city wall, which was surrounded by Florence in the fourteenth century, on the road leading to Rome. They are used now, preserved well enough
