This gate is of 14th-century Florence was surrounded by city walls is part. It was built during the extended walls in 1326, Porta Romana. Romana named seems to be derived from that had begun the road here from Rome. In the novel "Inferno", poet born in Florence, Dante is the key points of the story. Seems to be peering into the Boboli Gardens from Garden Gate in front of the Porta Romana art school, fled the checkpoint character Langdon and Siena.

  • Nothing impressive considering all you can visit in Firenze. Go there for a nice outdoorsy walk.
  • Nice park area. Quite expensive to get in and you do not get much for your money. Coffee shop was closed. What makes it worth a price is the view over Florence
  • Not as good as I expected and not a lot of information as you walk about
  • A nice area to hang out, and a great way to access the city on foot.
  • Must see if you read Dan Brown's Inferno or saw the movie

Where to stay in Florence

Variety is not a problem when deciding where to stay in Florence. The compact town center is packed with hotels, hostels, and small inns. The drawback of this upmarket central area is that even family-run B&Bs often cost as much as luxury hotels. For more affordable lodgings, explore the area outside the tourist-driven city center. Staying in one of the city's residential neighborhoods allows you to immerse yourself in the daily life of local Florentines. B&Bs and hotels outside the center offer private parking and spacious rooms, all within walking distance of the main tourist sites.
