  • I went to see this museum today, the first Sunday of the month, and then free for residents in Florence and surroundings. There'd never been. I really enjoyed it. Especially the Hall that brings together a series of Renaissance Madonnas + two attributed to Donatello. The room of paintings like another are a bit dark because the walls are painted blue. The works are lit in all the right places but spotlights their captions are right at dark and ... at least I, I made very effort to read to us. The leaders of the Museum should seek to enlighten, somehow, too. In any case it is a museum to visit.

  • Unknown by most tourists, this museum is a just stunning...something between the Frick Collection and Musée Jacquemart André; the Palace of a wonderful collectioneur!  more »
  • Sunday at the Museum with a friend to follow an activity for kids (help made by the Knight Giovanni dalle Bande Nere) ... very interesting and fun! The Museum houses an eclectic collection of more than 3600 works, including paintings, sculpture, armor, musical instruments, pottery, coins, medals and antique furniture. Among the most important works, charity by Tino di Camaino, Donatello's Madonna dei Cordai and a Madonna and child attributed to the same artist, glazed terracotta of Della Robbia's workshop, the Archangel Michael by Antonio del Pollaiolo, the martyrdom of a Saint of Tintoretto, a work of Guercino and thirty drawings by Tiepolo. Two rooms on the ground floor were dedicated to Florence and its history, with some emblematic works coming from city streets: the boar by Pietro Tacca from the fontana del Porcellino, Diavolino Giambologna from crossing between old street and via Strozzi, il Marzocco Golden by architrave of Palazzo Vecchio (all these works are replaced by many years with copies on site and so far scattered in various State and municipal museums). Also on the ground floor there is a collection of sculptures and the Armory. The mezzanine floor is dominated by a large wooden crucifix, with its collection of medieval wedding chests and a showcase of ceramics on the wall. Along the staircase were hanging the antique rugs, including that of 7.50 metres, which was used during a visit to Hitler in Florence in 1938. The second and third floor are paintings, bronzes and restoration "live" of Christ painted on a wooden cross shaped by the Giotto school. Among the paintings, Hercules at the crossroads of Domenico Beccafumi. For those who do not know him, well worth a visit ... deserves to be known and discovered!

  • Really cool museum with a decent amount of content. Not a lot of tourists. The Glenn Brown exposition was an eye-opener for me.
  • Extremely underestimated tourist destination. You are going to find wonderful collection of medieval fine arts.
  • una piacevole scoperta. Si consiglia la visita guidata.
  • Wonderful place! Glen Brown was amazing.
  • I enjoyed my time here. Perhaps this is not a popular museum, I am the only one inside and I can have a quiet environment to appreciate the arts. One thing special is the focus of Stefano Barfini is on the display rather than the value of a single product, thus, the set up here is quite different from other museums.
