  • It is not within the best-known circuits of Florence but for me, it is not to be missed. Be in Florence and not take advantage of the opportunity to meet a real bourgeois Palace would be a shame. Built by the family dealer Davizzi in the fourteenth century (the Davanzati bought the property)., shows the different environments, furniture, utensils, devices and others, that give you a comprehensive idea of what life was then. Stands out the kitchen, with many of its original features, and the bedrooms, with their private bathrooms. An important detail of the House: has only that time still preserved wooden staircase. The visit lasts about an hour and a half. The value of the entry is 5 euros. There are guided but not in Spanish. In particular, during my visit, the guide that I was in luck did not have much detailed knowledge about some important aspects of the House. In short, if you go to Florence, well worth spend awhile to know him.

  • Was lucky to be allowed on the top floor during my visit; there was some renovation work but I saw more! Very interesting place, lots of insight into daily life eg cooking, sleeping, relaxing, and washing up. Look for a graffiti in the kitchen which said "one of the Medici's was assassinated today" ie its a 400 year old scribble!

Where to stay in Florence

Variety is not a problem when deciding where to stay in Florence. The compact town center is packed with hotels, hostels, and small inns. The drawback of this upmarket central area is that even family-run B&Bs often cost as much as luxury hotels. For more affordable lodgings, explore the area outside the tourist-driven city center. Staying in one of the city's residential neighborhoods allows you to immerse yourself in the daily life of local Florentines. B&Bs and hotels outside the center offer private parking and spacious rooms, all within walking distance of the main tourist sites.
