  • Every morning, except bank holidays, the market opens doors with food and entertainment in the indoor area and with clothing and food stalls outside. The market structure is made as to the most famous market of San Lorenzo with a main building in brick and iron holding cast iron parts that give the magnitude, the brightness and the air circulation. Unlike other areas of Florence, in the area of local consumers and tourists are virtually absent, presenting a paesano, provincial and familiar. Interesting selection of restaurants including Trattoria emerges from Rocco.

  • Although there are the usual stalls of Chinoiserie, greengrocers and butchers and bakers inside the stands are about as inviting as you'll get: you do the shopping for the family and there are no snacks.

  • This area is a little removed from the main attractions. We came here from Piazzale Michelangelo by bus. The bus took forever to come. But even with the longer travel times, it was a wonderful visit f...  more »

  • Very authentic market with fresh food in the city center. You can find everything from vegetables through dairy products to various meats and Tuscan deliciousness. Lunch options and cafés around the square. Perfect for Saturday morning.
  • Skip Mercato Centrale and the tourism madness and come to Mercato Sant'Ambrogio for an authentic and cheap Italian market. The stands inside are more expensive than the outside, so take a look around! They often have thrift markets and such through the week or on the weekends too!
  • Would definitely recommend walking through. Quality, local products at decent prices.
  • Typical food market Excellent produce mostly fresh and local
  • Very nice and small market, compared to San Lorenzo which is the big market of the center. And thanks to that can be cheaper most of the time. Indoors you can find caffè, a small place to eat as well as fresh fish.
