Where to stay in Florence

Variety is not a problem when deciding where to stay in Florence. The compact town center is packed with hotels, hostels, and small inns. The drawback of this upmarket central area is that even family-run B&Bs often cost as much as luxury hotels. For more affordable lodgings, explore the area outside the tourist-driven city center. Staying in one of the city's residential neighborhoods allows you to immerse yourself in the daily life of local Florentines. B&Bs and hotels outside the center offer private parking and spacious rooms, all within walking distance of the main tourist sites.

  • I have been visiting the brothers Massai for over 15 years every time I go to Florence. I can not say enough good things about this little jewel in Florence. You walk into their workshop -- literally. They have some amazing pieces already made (their Buccellati replicas are pieces of art!) and they do great custom work too. You can bring in old gold you no longer wear and they'll repurpose it for you. They speak English, are friendly, accommodating, creative and have THE BEST PRICES IN FLORENCE!!! To me this is a MUST stop when in Florence.
  • Antique jewelry workshop, since 1950. Realization of precious metalwork, gold, precious stones, and precious stones. All exclusively handmade, homemade.
