#2 of 15 in Parks in Florence
Garden Nature / Park
Discover panoramic views over Florence at Giardino Bardini, a little-known Renaissance garden only recently opened to the public. In this hillside oasis, you'll find myriad statuary, wild birds, and a coffeehouse with strong Italian coffee and views of the red-roofed city and hills beyond. Sit beside one of the tree-shaded fountains, then stroll through the wisteria-canopied walkways. There's also a museum next door where you can catch interesting exhibits and concerts. • At the bottom of the garden with a view of the Santa Croce and the Arno, caffe La Loggetta (KaffeHaus) offers an ideal place for a break in the shade, away from the bustle of the city. A little wind quiet even heat. A few snacks and drinks can enhance a Meridian break at reasonable price. We are requinqués to start the assault on the city.

  • The Bardini Garden was a peaceful retreat from the crowds on the other side of the Arno. The lawns were green and the terraces photogenic. However, a visit may be preferable in spring/early summer whe...  more »
  • I read that this garden would be the most beautiful of Florence, I'd be delighted by its colors and smells. Unfortunately there was no flower. The only interest of this garden (admission € 10 per adult with access to the Boboli garden, at the Museum of the porcelain) is the panoramic views it offers of Florence.

  • Very soothing and peaceful. View was outstanding. Gardens were great to wander through
  • Less known then Boboli Garden but as beautiful and much less crowded. A nice cafeteria at the top with a great view on the city. The ticket is the same as Boboli. The villa in the garden hosts art exhibitions included in the ticket price.
  • The gardens are beautiful. I recommend taking a taxi to the top and walking down if you are elderly.
  • There are plenty free gardens you can explore with the same view. However this one is worth paying for and you can see the neighboring gardens included in the price. Villa is however not worth the extra money.
  • Very nice place to spend some time in Florence. The garden is very well maintained. Our visit was in April and we had a chance to see the famous wisteria flowers at it's best. The best way to visit is by buying a combined ticket at Pitti Palace for 8 euro for Giardino Boboli and Bardini.

Where to stay in Florence

Variety is not a problem when deciding where to stay in Florence. The compact town center is packed with hotels, hostels, and small inns. The drawback of this upmarket central area is that even family-run B&Bs often cost as much as luxury hotels. For more affordable lodgings, explore the area outside the tourist-driven city center. Staying in one of the city's residential neighborhoods allows you to immerse yourself in the daily life of local Florentines. B&Bs and hotels outside the center offer private parking and spacious rooms, all within walking distance of the main tourist sites.
