  • The market is a large market, popular in many cities in Brazil, several stalls selling their goods, are under an ancient structure with high arches and pilasters. During the day, the Porcellino (wild boar) is amid the tents, after the tents if they go at the end of the day, it becomes easier to find it and photograph it, not forgetting to pet it in your nose! KKK.

  • What the heart. Smaller, quieter part right next to the Ponte Vecchio. According to legend put a coin the pig on the tongue, leaving it in the including fall this fountain, then neatly caress the snout and one never has money worries: D! The coming months will show whether it works. Nice change of pace in the otherwise rather hectic area around the Ponte Vecchio and the Duomo.

  • Well this place worth seeing ... And as written on the plate in Andersen I confirm that Florence is an entire picture book

  • The bronze statue is really neat, but there's always a crowd around it. Be prepared for some pushing. Nothing special about the "market" around the boar.
  • Drop your not needed coins here for some cheap luck. Put the coin in the hog's mouth and let it drop. If it falls through the grill below: voila! Instant luck. If not... pick it up and try again! Hours of endless fun here!
  • When you finish your walk trough market and probably after buying something interesting, you will see this statue. Legend says that if you rub the wild boar's nose you will return to Florence.
  • Veeeery crowded. And I want to live under the pig and collect all the money.
  • Nice place. The market is normal as the pig as well. But phat's a place to go and take a pic.

Where to stay in Florence

Variety is not a problem when deciding where to stay in Florence. The compact town center is packed with hotels, hostels, and small inns. The drawback of this upmarket central area is that even family-run B&Bs often cost as much as luxury hotels. For more affordable lodgings, explore the area outside the tourist-driven city center. Staying in one of the city's residential neighborhoods allows you to immerse yourself in the daily life of local Florentines. B&Bs and hotels outside the center offer private parking and spacious rooms, all within walking distance of the main tourist sites.
