  • Quality leather at a good price. They did not have my size when I was in Florence, but they were willing to ship to the US. It took awhile to arrive but fit great and exactly as described. I would buy from them again.
  • We were fortunate to have been recommended this leather store by my daughter who had purchased a still beautiful leather coat back in 2008. Designer Franco Fonati, the owner of David 2 Leather welcomed us like family. He explained how he loved to match people with the design which would best suit them. He was spot on with what he chose for me and my husband to try on. This man really knows what he is talking about! The designs are stunning; the fit and quality top notch. I had no difficulty finding what to buy with Franco and his team's assistance and personalised attention. The leather jacket I purchased attracts so many compliments - each and every time I wear it. My husband, who had not intended to purchase anything, quickly saw the sense in taking advantage of Franco's expertise and had a reversible leather jacket adjusted to fit. The leather, lightweight and reversible to suede is amazing. It will be perfect for our mild winters (he doesn't feel the cold). On picking the jacket up the following day, I couldn't resist having one of these reversible styles for myself! With the colour I wanted not available, Franco offered to post it (free of charge - very generously) to Australia. It has just arrived - very prompt and it is perfect! I can't wait for the weather to cool so I can wear it here! Be sure to add this leather store to your list of must visit places when you visit Firenze (Florence)! PS His wine is delicious too!
  • I had the honor of meeting Designer Franco Fonati the owner of David 2 Leather 20 years ago in Florence Italy...He treated me like family, welcomed me in his shop offered me wine and made me the most beautiful white leather coat that I still wear today. I was so impressed with his designs that I have continued to shop with his now ~ David 2 Leather Factory, Dante Leather Factory and David Leather Factory. My husband and I were there a few months back my husband had never been and Franco was nice enough to pick out some beautiful pieces for him he looks soooo handsome in all of them :) And Franco was so nice~* There is something very special you take away with your encounter with Franco Fonati, he doesn't just sell you a coat he gives you a piece of art. And a forever friendship that feels just like family! Thank you for making our trip the best Franco Fonati~* We will be back and we love you! Ciao!

Where to stay in Florence

Variety is not a problem when deciding where to stay in Florence. The compact town center is packed with hotels, hostels, and small inns. The drawback of this upmarket central area is that even family-run B&Bs often cost as much as luxury hotels. For more affordable lodgings, explore the area outside the tourist-driven city center. Staying in one of the city's residential neighborhoods allows you to immerse yourself in the daily life of local Florentines. B&Bs and hotels outside the center offer private parking and spacious rooms, all within walking distance of the main tourist sites.
