Cappella Brancacci, Florence

4.3
#15 of 70 in Museums in Florence
A side door at the Santa Maria del Carmine takes you into Cappella Brancacci, filled with frescoes by some of Italy's most revolutionary Renaissance artists, and known as “the Sistine Chapel of the Early Renaissance.” Masolina da Panicale's works, including “Expulsion from the Garden of Eden” at the front left, are particularly notable for their emotional realism, which was unparalleled at the time. Michelangelo studied here as a youth, many years before his work on the Sistine Chapel. Pick up the guidebook for information about the biblical stories unfolding in the frescoes. • A famous painting is the name of the "Masaccio" listened to much, Adam and Eve are chased paradise, so I went. Because it is walked through the Ponte Vecchio, but no other prominent buildings around a little lost. Note that, so hopefully you sure your road name just fine. Is seen from the outside the Church is very large, so a portion of chapels had been small. Protect murals? you have minimal lighting, so almost made tour with natural light and vice versa so good. Guide to explain the particular instead, just sitting is one of the watchdog. Visitors also had a very calm. Cape Town as a tourist destination rather than a real Church have show sneak (with a still camera shutter sound echoed) Please be quiet as much as possible. Website sign up to the Uffizi Museum, and reservations are required, but the system. International calls so the account by email, location is OK. Photos of the day, especially booking is required and I think a better book, worried about. The book store had a surprisingly. I think to slowly pick out souvenirs.

  • To avoid the crowds in central Florence, we took a taxi across the river to see the frescos. They are stunning. They are on the sides of a small chapel, maybe 15 feet across. You can stand in the midd...  more »

Where to stay in Florence

Variety is not a problem when deciding where to stay in Florence. The compact town center is packed with hotels, hostels, and small inns. The drawback of this upmarket central area is that even family-run B&Bs often cost as much as luxury hotels. For more affordable lodgings, explore the area outside the tourist-driven city center. Staying in one of the city's residential neighborhoods allows you to immerse yourself in the daily life of local Florentines. B&Bs and hotels outside the center offer private parking and spacious rooms, all within walking distance of the main tourist sites.
