  • Where there's about eight to nine o clock, it is very comfortable to sit at the chairs front of the church. Sitting there feeling the wind and listen to street artist is really relax and thankful.  more »
  • What a gem! Its façade, so ceiling, mosaics and marble marquetry, cemetery. But it is also this view as a picture postcard of FLORENCE, but also its green hills and cypresses... GOOD PLAN: Get in a TAXI and then walk down to Piazza Michel Angello and from there we can still go down and the Ponte Vecchio is 20 minutes: beautiful ballad!

  • It is absolutely recommended walk (da costa san giorgio, near the ancient walls and then descend via piazzale JEC and gardens of roses, lilies and Japanese) to enjoy the view of the green surroundings and the stylish architectural structure. rich in frescoes and art. Free admission. Inside little store that sells products of the Friars and ice cream (mint sorbet with berries)

  • A quick jaunt from Piazzale Michelangelo; the Abbazia is very gorgeous in the light of the sunset. I was able to make it in time for the 1730 service as I have never witnessed one before. It was very tranquil to watch. I do recommend you dress accordingly and do not leave the crypt once the service has started. If you do not have the time, then just stay in the basilica, you will be able to hear it there. The little shop right outside the doors is filled with all of the products the monks have made. The monks make famous liqueurs, honey, candles, and herbal teas - and I think I've bought at least one of each. They accept credit cards.
  • If you're going to Piazzale Michelangelo don't leave without going by here. The Basilica and ground are very nice. There is a service around 5:30 pm in the Crypt in Italian and Gregorian Chant. I am fairly sure that one of the Monks comes out before it starts and basically says (in Italian) "We are about to start Vespers. If you don't want to stay for an entire service, go up to the Basilica and listen." After which that start. If you do not want to stay for the entire service, you really can hear everything from the main Basilica floor.
  • The view and beautiful architecture! Slightly steep walk up but not too much work. Nice spots for laying on the grass, sitting or picnicking along the way.
  • Beautiful and one of the good samples of Romanesque architecture. The Abbazia San Miniatures located on top of a high hill south of the Florence and it gives you a fantastic view of the city, even better than Piazza Michealangelo. The stone flooring with beautiful patterns made by black and white marble on the main corridor of the building is like a carpet with beautiful details with a lot of story! Do not miss the amazing cemetery at the back of the building. It's more look like a museum of sculptures. Also there is a little Farmacia (drugstore) and souvenir shop at the corner but it's different from the other shops normally you see next to the historic building. They are selling some traditional herbal cream for skin. My favourite is the bee poison cream to reducing the muscle pain.
  • Best view of Firenze at Sunset. We didn't go in the church, but the grounds are beautiful and the view of the city is incredible!

Where to stay in Florence

Variety is not a problem when deciding where to stay in Florence. The compact town center is packed with hotels, hostels, and small inns. The drawback of this upmarket central area is that even family-run B&Bs often cost as much as luxury hotels. For more affordable lodgings, explore the area outside the tourist-driven city center. Staying in one of the city's residential neighborhoods allows you to immerse yourself in the daily life of local Florentines. B&Bs and hotels outside the center offer private parking and spacious rooms, all within walking distance of the main tourist sites.
