Palazzo dei Diamanti, Ferrara

(4.4/5 based on 1,100+ reviews on the web)
Admire medieval wood-panel paintings, classical words by Garofalo, enormous frescos, and more at Palazzo dei Diamanti, which houses the National Art Gallery of Ferrara. One of the world's most noteworthy Renaissance-era palaces, thousands of pink-veined marble diamonds adorn its reflective facade. Look for paintings from the medieval period through the 18th century, as well as rotating contemporary art exhibits. Don't miss the building's ornate candelabras and the Renaissance courtyard with its cloister and Ferraran marble well. • I often go to see exhibitions at the Palazzo dei Diamanti, which I think is a perfect location. This view I was passionate love; makes you enter a world of history and legend, between chivalry and battles. Really well done. Good explanation with the audioguide but especially the works of inestimable value that were shown: original versions of the Orlando Furioso, tapestries, maps of the time, the artillery and the paintings of artists like Leonardo, Raphael, Mantegna, Botticelli and many others that I leave you the surprise. Absolutely WONDERFUL!

  • Beautiful monument that takes its name from its two main facades: must see!! It is said that at uni that so many crepuzi have been hiding a real diamond.

  • For exhibitions, we could not visit it for the long tail during an exhibition on Ludovico Ariosto, so we were limited to a few pictures from various angles and with different impact of light on the characteristic façade.
