We walked through the town, having been born in Trapani, we know very well and then we went to the place as usual from the famous panoramic balcony Balio located north of Tower Panja. Apart from the wonderful scenery that unfolds before us, with featured on Mount Hood, underneath there is a cottage, the turret Parcells that has been restored recently (2011) from the Superintendency of monuments and which can be visited by 2014. More than a century old, immersed in the solitude of a clump of vegetation, the turret had sprung up at the behest of conte Agostino Pepoli, who made his "think tank", one turris eburnea where the patron met scholars and artists. We decided with my wife to visit it and begin to descend from the Balio towards the via San Giovanni from where we take the restored pathway which leads to the tower. Externally it has been done an admirable job of restoration and strengthening of the existing but stepping inside the disappointment was great (at least for me and my wife). Everything is new, shiny, clean and ... empty! For goodness sake, were used materials consistent with the age of the building, roof tiles, bricks and wooden Windows but ... too new, it appears to be a newly renovated apartment. The walls are white, amorphous, without a splash of color. I miss the old framework, old photos ... the story of the Tower, restoration ... nothing! In a room on the first floor were settled three old furniture without any explanation. We got a little heartened with sporadic views from balcony and veranda from which you feel immersed in a wilderness (overhangs and maquis pristine) and you can enjoy lovely views. Anyway ... to see.show original
Maurizio SchifanoAfter the restoration has lost its charm. The tower is situated at a point which is difficult and not always open to visitors.show original
