  • As often, a legend accompanies the will to build this church. I leave you to discover in your guide! It is a church that we discover enough fast arriving, but she frankly nothing exceptional.

  • This impressive church of the patron saint of Erice, contains many varieties of artifacts, textiles, ceroplastici, wooden sculptures. Reopened for worship for nearly a decade draws visitors for unique works that shows. The first are the mysteries, groups of carvings illustrating the last hours of Jesus ' life and that are carried in procession on good Friday. Noon is comparable to that of Trapani for both size and number, and also for quality, however they do have a strong presence and suggestion. Before accessing the actual Church can be seen, this is the end, works in wax modelling. Small sculptures of the Virgin and child. The strokes are so verosimiglianti that it almost seems impossible that they are just sculptures. Art that no longer exists and these works, not only are costly to the antiquarian market. In any other environment are of the manufati religious textiles, chasubles, teli, etc, very interesting and well made. In the last room, the remains of a stone altar with a crucifix that majestic would call it not so ruined, although readable. Also in this Church as the Cathedral we find the museo Cordici and the image of our Lady of Custonaci. It would be worthwhile to open a chapter to tell just how controversial the ownership of this painting, that is, and where he will remain in the Cathedral of origin. The painting arrived carried by French sailors. It was so nice that I claimed the property as their territory from Erice. Others opposed it until some "skirmishes" not only verbal abuse which lasted practically until nowadays. The grandparents of the current inhabitants of Custonaci moved with Lumpy sticks, to be used in the event that the erycines had arrived to take the Madonna. Dispute over recently and Erice remains expose copies ... Although the last Wednesday in August here as well as in Custonaci you make the pageants ... And then we talk about a United Europe ...
