Castello di Venere, Erice

4.1
#1 of 8 in Sightseeing in Erice
Castle Tourist Spot
Enjoy impressive views of Sicily and the sea beyond from atop 12th-century Norman ruins at Castello di Venere. As its name suggests, the castle was constructed on the Temple of Venus, which once served as a area of worship for the Elymian people. Walk along the perimeter walls and among the interior parts that still remain. Keep in mind that the path to reach the top involves steep uphill climbs. The castle is often closed during the winter months, so verify operational hours in advance. • We should take a glance on tripadvisor before you go as our conclusion of visit validates the latest reviews. Beautiful castle on the outer side. Inside, there is not much important to see, as well as ruins and foundations, no access to buildings. 4th it is a bit expensive for a flying visit will also offer you entry to 5th, coupled with other visits. However very beautiful building and obviously exceptional point of view, we can observe from the outside of the walls of the Castle.

  • The most beautiful is out. There is nothing to see in it, apart from the points of view, not necessarily best since the garden upstream. The castle is still very nice to see from the outside. If you still want to do a good deed, visit it, it'll make a donation of € 4 per person to preserve ;)

  • You have the option then take the trip up to Erice located at Trapani. Here you will find a fantastic little mountain village with many great small need streets, small shops, pastry shops, churches and castles. Not to talk about the views. Totally indescribable great. We chose to drive up early in the day and took the route SP3 on the recommendation. A route that meanders up over the mountainside-a great experience in itself. But not for the one that easily gets scared of the narrow and winding roads. Are you up early you can get parking up at the entrance as where the cable car going up. Take plenty of time to explore the small alleys and all alleys. And enjoy the city views especially from Castello Pepoli Museum e Venere. Took Via Erice back down which was also great, and with a view to the North. Enjoy.

  • I was impressed by this castle. It's charming.
  • Come here early in the morning for the view across towards the coast. the clouds are just clearing after sunrise and it looks spectacular. There is not much else to see here other than the view. It is really just rubble. But very cool experience for a very cheap price.
  • Very nice and worth spending the day on the mountain.
  • Wonderful views, cheap tickets. Not worth buying expensive ticket for other places, better to buy ticket to "Castello di Venere" and "Quartiere Spagnolo".
  • This old castle of Erice is marvelous. Perfect scene for a lot of Photos with a great 360 degree view over the landscape
