The octagonal Baptistery, built in 1167, is located next to the Cathedral. Inside the structure retains the original Romanesque appearance. The baptistery has a 16th century baptismal font, which dominates in the center of the Interior with its large octagonal tank, as the plan of the building. 3 euros full ticket price, 2 euro reduced. Check the opening times. Worth a visit.

To complete the visit to the square, we enter the Baptistery. Visit for a fee but the modest cost of the ticket is by far the visit (recommended!).

On the majestic Dome, and a few meters of the Cathedral this 12th century baptistery built red brick as the Campanile. The interior volume (34 meters of height to diameter 20,50) is remarkable by the construction of its vault that anticipated 2 centuries one of the famous dome of Brunelleschi to Florence.Toutefois the interior decoration elements are far from compete with the sumptuous baptistery of Ravenna.

To visit absolutely. The entrance can be integrated with that of the nearby Torrazzo.

Beautiful Romanesque building. Inside there is the small Museo delle Pietre Dure, with medieval sculptures. Overall it is rather bare: there are only three altars, two decorated with altarpieces and Baroque statues, the other with a 14th century crucifix.

By looking a little stocky, the Cremona baptistery lacks the momentum that characterises the Torrazzo, giving the impression of an architecture a little seedy, also due to the fact that only half of the building was covered with marble, while the other half is the poor relation of the bricks with which he was raised. I wonder if this has been induced by changing economic or political circumstances, or if there was anything a symbolic wishes!
