  • 45 minutes (closing without absolute extensions at 17.30) for a visit after all full though not thorough. It would take at least an hour to get to the bottom in sight of all the works displayed here, but out of season, the schedule is very, very tight schedule. It must be said that in the cities, even with limited hours, you can visit many of the sites they deserve, the little country churches, often are inaccessible. Here you can see, of course, the masterpiece of Beato Angelico which acts as the main booster, but the whole set of canvases and works proposed is worthy of serious consideration. The Tuscan painting of 400 and 500 is represented with several works, the order of visitation of the halls is very logical and is curious start, however, by an ancient Roman work which is the sarcophagus of "battle between Dionysus and the Amazons." In any case, although obviously the Annunciation makes the lion's share, we must not forget the paintings by great masters like Lorenzetti or Luca Signorelli or the beautiful triptych of Sassetta, which have left their traces in Siena and surroundings: vivid colors, expressiveness of the faces impressive, especially in the "Lamentation over the dead Christ" by Signorelli (see photo). 5 euro well-spent, look at all the rooms, also the lesser works are valuable and deserve more than a simple stop. I was lucky enough to be alone on this visit and I had, despite the limited time all the comfort I could move from one room to another without problems.

  • Beautiful museum in the Duomo of Cortona. It has many Etruscan artefacts and is very peaceful. Highly recommended.
  • Right outside the entrance of the Diocesan Museum of the Cathedral Chapter, which houses all the major works owned by the Church of Cortona. Upon entering you will come across the famous sarcophagus with battle between Dionysus and the Amazons, who counts among his admirers also Donatello and Michelangelo. Continuing the visit we find the cross, Madonna enthroned with angels and a crucifix shaped, Pietro Lorenzetti, the triptych Madonna of humility and St Nicholas, Michael, Giovanni Battista and Margherita da Cortona of Sassetta, the Annunciation by Beato Angelico, work more important than the whole collection. Then there is the Assumption by Bartolomeo della Gatta, the Lamentation over the dead Christ and the Fellowship of Angels by Luca Signorelli: apart from other paintings and frescoes, the Museum also possesses a remarkable collection of jewellery and utensils, including the Goblet of Michele Tome ' of 1370, the reliquary Vagnucci, work of the Florentine Goldsmith's 400, and parried Pal Gold laminate velvet and Brocade, executed from designs by Raffaellino del Garbo and Andrea del Sarto.

  • At first I was skeptical and thought I find few works of genuine artistic interest. The Museum features salt divided by historical periods. Of course not to be missed is the Annunciation by Beato Angelico, but also interesting is the Chapter House. Appropriate to the size and entrance fee to the offer of the Museum

  • Small but extremely interesting Museum with works ranging from Roman times to the present day. Gorgeous is the Annunciation by Beato Angelico and remarkable are the works by Luca Signorelli, native of Cortona, especially the Lamentation over the dead Christ, where it seems that in Christ I wanted to depict the son died prematurely.

  • The Announciation of Fra Angelico alone is worth the price of admission (3 euro). Very nice also the it support for the visit.
