  • I was brought here from a loved one has just breached the entrance I am fascinated by the silence and a breathtaking view ... I got up to go in and noticed a very spiritual context and attention to detail ... perhaps one of the most beautiful places of worship visited ..... don't miss out!

  • A place of rare beauty and little known to the tourists, being so calm and peaceful! Le Celle was one of the places where St. Francis of Assisi was ... so involves a lot of energy and love. As the story goes, San Francisco was in Cortona in 1211, this requested and obtained a place to gather in prayer. A young nobleman in the city, Guido Vagnottelli (who later became the "Blessed Guido", one of the first companions of Saint Francis of Assisi) offered him this site at the beginning of the 13th century. Was a place inhabited, but Francisco, however, chose to retire in prayer and built the first "celle", in Portuguese, cells, along with Brother Elias, Blessed Guido and Vito Beatus, and other followers of the Saint, was initially 9 cells. -The name "Eremo delle Celle" was given because The celle (cell) was the name of the small dwellings of hermits or peasants (to spend the night).

  • A charming, beautiful and peaceful place! Best to come with a car or its a long but still possible walk.
  • One of the most memorable and peaceful experiences I ever had was spending a solitaire moment at "Le Celle"
  • The pictures are beautiful, yet somehow don't do Le Celle justice. I was a UGA student in Cortona the Summer of 1996. I used to pack a lunch and go to Le Celle to study it was so peaceful and quiet. I guess it is hard to take a picture of serenity and peace.
  • I made of proposal to marry at the place:-)) she said YES
  • What a hidden gem
