Passo Giau is one of the most scenic passes of the Venetian Dolomites. The road begins at Colle Santa Lucia and continues uphill through sparse forests for approximately 10 km (6.2 mi) until the summit. On a clear day, the summit offers a view over the Cortina D'Ampezzo valley and the peaks of the Dolomites. Reward yourself with a hot or cold drink at the inviting cafe at the summit. Pick up a map of all of the area's marked trails at the local tourism office. Put Passo Giau on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Cortina d'Ampezzo trip itinerary builder.

  • The Giau pass connects the Pearl of Dolomites Cortina d'Ampezzo with that fairytale village which is Colle Santa Lucia, a small country, with a magnificent view on two of the most beautiful peaks of the Dolomites, the Pelmo and the Civetta. Also nice route in winter with snow (if open of course). Particular attention should be paid to bikers in summer, rather reckless lately. Lovely Bar/Restaurant on the top of the pass

  • Who wants to simply take a tour with the bike or car and enjoy the scenery - here is strongly recommended the Passo Giau. Beautiful landscapes alternate with rugged rock. On the way, there are enough refreshments, to relax.
