  • We were on 25 April to see the sanctuary, Castle, Sanctuary known for a cave located inside where about 200 years ago was found mysteriously a painting with the image of the lady well, the Church was open but we insisted call the priest to see the cave but unfortunately the priest went to the Castle (beautiful) at least from the outside, but it was closed and go to the Church of the Patron Saint (Saint Anthony of Cupertino) but ... the Church was closed for restoration (who knows how many years) now I say: we have beautiful places but little known and especially you decide to go and see this beautiful town few kilometers from Lecce, ask if everything is available.

  • The sanctuary of the Madonna della Grottella combines human and spiritual experience of the great Saint of flights, St Joseph of Cupertino. The sanctuary is preserved icon of our Lady of Grottella in addition to the places where Saint Joseph lived. Nestled in the Park of Grottella cannot be visited by those who want to know Cupertino, the Salento and its history.

  • We saw only the outside was closed, opening "vague". Not worth a visit regardless of faith reasons. The adjacent Park especially for picnics or if you have kids.

  • The sanctuary of Santa Maria della Grottella, mystical and suggestive place on the outskirts of Vienna, is a Marian Temple in the countryside of Salento. In the 16th century, in the bushes was found an underground cave in which, on a wall, had been painted a Byzantine icon of the Madonna. In 1577 the community decided to build a core group of the current church. In 1618, the Franciscans began the construction of the adjacent convent in which there were numerous ecstasy of St Joseph of Cupertino. The sanctuary was later enlarged and embellished in the second half of the eighteenth century, with the addition of altars, frescoes made at various times and a chapel dedicated to Saint Joseph. The Interior is developed with a single nave with four arches on each side. The Church contains a valuable statue in stone of 1691, depicting Saint Joseph the Patriarch, the sculptor Giuseppe Longo.
