  • The castle of Copertino is a wonder, is a majestic monument, struck from an architectural point of view. It is maintained well and is definitely worth a visit. But a flaw, very awkward in my opinion given the importance of the structure is the neglect of the ditch, with spontaneous grass that has infested the area. It's a real shame. I don't think we want a particular expertise to tosarla. It's a point definitely sore, you'll hardly believe.

  • Medieval castle beautiful, too bad there are no events, is recognized in Italy only for the vineyard located on the Castle. You can do more

  • Beautiful old town rich in history and full of churches. The entrance gates to the historic centre as well as the Castle. Rich churches dating back to different ages.

  • Well preserved Castle, dude. Shameful service: 5 euros admission (issued 3 value ticketing then tried non-euro). Path limited (Chapel of the Magdalene indicated but closed), dirty, around used glasses and not emptied from the previous event, materials along the way, dirty bathrooms without internal paper handkerchiefs porticato housekeeping cart parked in the SOAP ... shameful! The Castle well worthwhile other enhancement

  • The Copertino Castle is built around a square-shaped courtyard, and in the four corners four bastions. The structure has the classic star shape of the fortifications from the 16th century, although the oldest part dates back to the 13th-14th century, during the Norman era. To that core should go up the Tower of quadrangular shape up and soaring similar in shape, the Tower of the castle of Lecce and Leverano Tower. Even today the tower is surrounded by a ditch along all its perimeter. Currently the castle is accessed via a stone bridge, nonexistent during the period when the castle still had defensive function. The entrance, tastefully decorated with gargoyles durazzesco-Catalan, with patterns related to war and pieces of arms and armour, decoration that is well suited to the nature of the building itself. In the inner courtyard are running huge connecting tunnels to the ramparts, the better to be defended in case of attack. On the left rises the porch Pinelli-Pignatelli. On the right is St Mark's Chapel, frescoed by the Mannerist painter Gianserio Strafella on behalf of the genovese family of Squarciafico, who had bought the castle in 1557. Inside, sixteenth-century residential environments, there is a chapel dedicated to St Mary Magdalene, with frescoes of the fifteenth century, discovered during restoration work. In 1886 the castle was declared a national monument and in 1955 under the standards of protection. The castle is run by the local fine arts and landscape for the provinces of Lecce, Brindisi and Taranto based in Lecce.

  • Nice, too bad that you can not visit the top. In General has not been sufficiently exploited

  • Imposing Castle, severe-looking. It's not always open to visitors.
