Emerald Grotto (Grotta di Smeraldo), Conca dei Marini

Categories: Caves, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
1/5 based on 320+ reviews on the web
Named for the color reflected in the waters within, Emerald Grotto (Grotta di Smeraldo) is a small cave partly filled with seawater. Sunlight is refracted through the water, which gives the cave its ethereal emerald glow. This is similar to the better-known, and more impressive, Blue Grotto on the nearby island of Capri. With no natural opening above the waterline, the cave wasn't discovered until 1932. Take the elevator down into the cave, then board a small boat to tour the grotto. • I knew about caves, but this impressed me strongly. Tell me what? Well from a cavity at sea came a blue light of immense beauty. Really amazing vision. I would strongly recommend to verify my admiration for this cave really nature's gift.
