Emerald Grotto (Grotta di Smeraldo), Conca dei Marini

(1/5 based on 320+ reviews on the web)
Named for the color reflected in the waters within, Emerald Grotto (Grotta di Smeraldo) is a small cave partly filled with seawater. Sunlight is refracted through the water, which gives the cave its ethereal emerald glow. This is similar to the better-known, and more impressive, Blue Grotto on the nearby island of Capri. With no natural opening above the waterline, the cave wasn't discovered until 1932. Take the elevator down into the cave, then board a small boat to tour the grotto. • If you switch to Conca dei Marini, it is worth visiting the Emerald Grotto. Very particular light that the Sun reflects in the water inside the cave.

  • We were there in October of 2016 and it was nice. I have difficulty walking so just went along for the boat ride to the grotto, very beautiful and nice way to see the coast from the water. Bring a lig...  more »
  • The Emerald Cave is situated in Conca dei Marini, parking in front of the entry (with a valet abusive asking you an offer to taste and this bothered me, but alas it is unfortunately on Costiera) an elevator takes you down to the entrance and a boatman makes you do the grio that lasts 5 minutes, the cost of entry is of 5 €, here too the boatman asks tip ì but our at least it wasn't too pushy! It's certainly worth it, gorgeous water, they also shot some film. The crib under water is very small and you see a little bad though cute, beautiful, much more typical water color really beautiful
