Trip Planner:   Europe  /  Italy  /  Lombardy  /  Lake Como  /  Como  /  Villa Olmo
Built in 1797 as a summer retreat for the aristocracy, and named for an elm that once stood at the heart of the gardens, Villa Olmo is now property of the municipality of Como. Neoclassical in style, the villa is only open during exhibitions, though the lakeside gardens are open to the public at all times. Enjoy a drink at the open-air bar in the garden, or relax on the lawns. Check online to see the schedule of events and exhibits. Only about 2 km (1.3 mi) from the heart of Como, it is an easy walk along the lake to get to the villa. Make Villa Olmo a part of your Como vacation plans using our Como trip itinerary builder app .

  • Have a long walk from Como city centre around the lake. You will see a lot of nice villas, some are government offices now, others are still inhabited.  more »
  • Quiet place, good for a walk around the Lake, and a glimpse of the beauties of the town between mountains, come back often!

  • Villa olmo is closed until March for inside renovation. Gardens are still open for a nice tour
  • The villa seemed beautiful and the lawn was amazingly manicured, but the whole place appeared to be closed off for construction, and parts of the outside appeared to be in complete disrepair.
  • Italian villa of 18th century... Once visited by Nepolian
  • The villa is set in a beautiful place with breathtaking views of Lake Como and the mountains surrounding it. A few seaplanes were landing on the water while we were there. Unfortunately the villa was closed due to some renovation work going on. But we got a good look at it from outside though. It has been used as a setting for various Italian films.
  • Beautiful grounds and house. It's a lovely walk from Como to there along the lake. We didn't get to go in as there was an event on.
