Villa Olmo, Como

(440+ reviews on the web)
Architectural Building
Built in 1797 as a summer retreat for the aristocracy, and named for an elm that once stood at the heart of the gardens, Villa Olmo is now property of the municipality of Como. Neoclassical in style, the villa is only open during exhibitions, though the lakeside gardens are open to the public at all times. Enjoy a drink at the open-air bar in the garden, or relax on the lawns. Check online to see the schedule of events and exhibits. Only about 2 km (1.3 mi) from the heart of Como, it is an easy walk along the lake to get to the villa. • The imposing neoclassical Mansion at the end of ' 700. The giant tree that gave its name to villa no longer exists, but the Italian garden at the front and the landscaped grounds on the back are full of trees and tall trees. The building was built for the family Odescalchi. He then went to R then the Visconti di Modrone. Among his guests has Napoleon and Garibaldi. The Interior is rich in stuccoes, frescoes, decorations, statues and can be visited. A special mention deserves the precious eighteenth-century theatre. Since the beginning of the twentieth century is owned by the city of Como, which uses it for conferences and art exhibitions.

  • Attended the Delbo wedding in May. It was held at the gazebo in the garden but the weather was terrible. Heavy rain (which is good luck for a wedding) but not the guests. The Villa Olmo staff rushed to provide umbrellas to the wedding party. Their service was exceptional. The setting breathtaking and a good time was had by all.
  • Huge fancy villa, often open for modern art shows or book fairs.
  • Very nice place 👍
  • The surroundings is lovely and relaxing. I particularly like the fountain in the park.
  • Beautiful place!
