(260+ reviews on the web)
Religious Site Church
A Romanesque structure from the 11th century, Basilica of Sant'Abbondio features well-preserved frescoes inside its apse, and exquisite geometric relief details around the windows. The frescoes depict images from the life of Jesus--they were carefully restored to their medieval glory in the 1990s. A university operates within the former cloister--stroll its grounds to get a better look at the apse exterior. Our Como family vacation planner makes visiting Basilica of Sant'Abbondio and other Como attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • Wonderful to say the least, both outside Basilica with its Romanesque style and the two bell towers on the façade, with a series of frescoes in the incredible beauty and rather unusual for a Romanesque church. A gorgeous place to visit again and again!

  • Oldest of the duomo and the basilica of San Fedele, is presented in its original form thanks to a restoration (between the delicate and nonchalant) XIX century, which changed the look I had assumed the Church over the centuries, bringing it back to its original Romanesque structure. Splendid front view (don't miss the capitals) and the apse with mullioned Windows decorated, as are the twin towers (one of which is in fact the result of a restoration offhand). Within the spectacular fresco in the apse (the Tribune is sadly gone almost entirely lost) with the story of the life of Christ, Saints and prophets. Nice also the cloister, legacy of the old convent and now University environment.

  • Nice fresh, a perfect place to shelter from the scorching heat of summer with a prayer that restaurant the soul and the body. Personally it's not one of my preferred but a ride worth
