Military Museum Military Facility
Looking out above the Gran Sasso Mountains, Fortezza Museo delle Armi Civitella del Tronto is a marvel of military engineering dating back to the 12th century. It's since been renovated, but still retains its Renaissance style. The elliptical fort contains two squares, one used for the training of troops and the other for ceremonial purposes. To get here, walk up the steep Ruetta, known as the narrowest street in Italy and originally meant to keep enemies from gaining access to the fortress. • It is a very long walk and an uphill battle. But the views help take your mind off the panting and sweating. And the views are stunning! From every view point along the way to the Fortezza entrance. T...  more »
  • The town is small and very ancient with small houses and narrow allayes. Found a nice restaurant with exellent pasta! Take the time to walk around the fortress.  more »

  • A fortress which is well worth a visit. Impressive, and well structured. For a physical need at least 1 hour. Responsible for the site and the Museum of arms. Also of interest is the cistern and the dungeons.

  • It is in excellent condition, it helps to give you an idea of how it was when it was in operation. In addition to the beautiful views of the surrounding area.

  • Must-visit place if you are in the area. Really impressive. The Museum is well cared for, perhaps the Kingdom of the two Sicilies a bit mistreated, but we know that history says whoever wins the war.

  • Fortress visited each of my stays in Abruzzo for the guarantee of a quiet afternoon in a place yet seat of battles and steeped in history. The walk in the alleys of the city is recommended.
