Fortezza Museo delle Armi Civitella del Tronto, Civitella del Tronto

(4.8/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
Looking out above the Gran Sasso Mountains, Fortezza Museo delle Armi Civitella del Tronto is a marvel of military engineering dating back to the 12th century. It's since been renovated, but still retains its Renaissance style. The elliptical fort contains two squares, one used for the training of troops and the other for ceremonial purposes. To get here, walk up the steep Ruetta, known as the narrowest street in Italy and originally meant to keep enemies from gaining access to the fortress. • I visited the fortress of Civitella on a Sunday in August, during a motorcycle ride, and I was really impressed! Not only the Fort is well preserved, but it is also one of the nicest I have ever visited. Recommend a visit of at least a couple of hours, maybe even on a sunny day. Beautiful also the initiatives of rapprochement to falconry and Raptors.

  • The fortress of Civitella is well preserved and open to the general public who wants to discover, in the best way, the history of Italy. A huge space where they lived for years soldiers placed at the extreme border of the Kingdom of the two Sicilies. A dip in time.
