Military Museum
Looking out above the Gran Sasso Mountains, Fortezza Museo delle Armi Civitella del Tronto is a marvel of military engineering dating back to the 12th century. It's since been renovated, but still retains its Renaissance style. The elliptical fort contains two squares, one used for the training of troops and the other for ceremonial purposes. To get here, walk up the steep Ruetta, known as the narrowest street in Italy and originally meant to keep enemies from gaining access to the fortress. • Civitella one of the most beautiful villages of Italy. From the majestic fortress you can admire a magnificent panorama. The Museum of arms full of historical artifacts is very interesting and well maintained and you visit with ease because there are explanations very exhaustive.

  • I visited the fortress of Civitella on a Sunday in August, during a motorcycle ride, and I was really impressed! Not only the Fort is well preserved, but it is also one of the nicest I have ever visited. Recommend a visit of at least a couple of hours, maybe even on a sunny day. Beautiful also the initiatives of rapprochement to falconry and Raptors.

  • The fortress of Civitella is well preserved and open to the general public who wants to discover, in the best way, the history of Italy. A huge space where they lived for years soldiers placed at the extreme border of the Kingdom of the two Sicilies. A dip in time.

  • Must-visit place if you are in the area. Really impressive. The Museum is well cared for, perhaps the Kingdom of the two Sicilies a bit mistreated, but we know that history says whoever wins the war.

  • Fortress visited each of my stays in Abruzzo for the guarantee of a quiet afternoon in a place yet seat of battles and steeped in history. The walk in the alleys of the city is recommended.
