Very impressive is also the staging, which uses a very fine graphics. Although the Lombard period is predominant, other sections of the Museum are hosting testimonials from prehistory to Roman and then back to the middle ages. On the ground floor you can see the Roman lapidary sections: Medieval and Romanesque, Byzantine, paleo-high. There are beautiful mosaics from the ancient dwellings, sculptures from the churches and palaces of Cividale in the middle ages. Upstairs you can see a rich collection of artefacts of Lombard origin. An admirable series of objects coming from the urban necropolis and the surrounding area. High impact is the room that houses the Roman sarcophagus and equipment of Duke Gisulf, only recovered at the end of 1800. A curiosity: near the entrance of the Museum, on the porch, is a strange inscription: Against Ministers of the directors of dead hands. Was the place where the anonymous complaints were laid against officials, these Ministers, who took care of the assets of religious bodies to whom it was granted to avoid paying taxes, so called "dead hands".show original
