  • We rented a villa in Citta della Pieve this September and from there we made day trips to many hill towns in Southern Tuscany and Umbria. Those of us who are Catholics attended Sunday mass at the Cath...  more »
  • It is easy to dismiss this church as 'one of those' but to do so would be a mistake. The interior is a mix of old and new, like the white vaults and the colourful marbled columns of the many side alta...  more »
  • The Church is the oldest in the town, dedicated to Saints gervasius and protasius, martyrs of Lombard Milan. Has undergone various transformations until the 13th century Gothic renovations, and to this period belong the side chapels and the elegant Bell Tower next to the building, built in 1738. Always to the Gothic period dates the construction of the crypt under the high altar. Inside is rich in works of art of 500 and 600, due to famous artists such as Perugino, il Pomarancio, Domenico Alfani, and Giambologna. In premises adjacent to the sacristy is the Diocesan Museum: contains material of different historical periods and from different backgrounds. This is cinerary urns, jewelry, frescoes from other churches throughout the Cathedral. Anyway a beautiful church at the center of piazza Plebiscito, appearing from via Vannucci, how beautiful is this little gem that is Città della Pieve.

  • Very beautiful, picturesque, hospitable and the main thing there is culture to sell. During the summer there are many events, the most famous is the palio dei landowners which takes place the week of August. Beautiful and impressive historical parade with over 800 participants. Equally important are the events of Christmas, Easter and the floral display for St. Louis in June. By the way, recently was discovered an Etruscan tomb, the exhibits can be admired in the Church of the servants next to the hospital. I conclude that the food is more than great.

  • Basilica of ancient origins, although currently the Church dates back to the 16th century. Inside you can admire two works by perugino.

  • This church already impresses with exposed brick and stone façade, set in a charming old town. The interior features a contrast between the ceiling completely white and the walls covered with dark marbles. The part that arouses more interest are the works by Perugino, fine from first to last.
